Reclaim Your Time

Just like our favorite Congresswoman, Maxine Waters, we all need to reclaim our damn time!

We’ve all heard the saying, “You have as many hours in the day as Beyonce”. That may be true-ish, but it sure doesn’t feel like it sometimes.

Working, motherhood, building a business, and all the other things that superwomen do can be challenging because it is never ending work and can leave us feeling like we haven’t accomplished a damn thing.

Some days, you’re pumped to hop out of bed feeling eager to tackle the day’s task. Other days, you feel like you’re in an overwhelmed powerless slump that’s impossible to climb out of.

Have you ever had one of those days when your to-do list was endless and you felt intimidated to even get started on the first task?

We all have. And that’s alright!

Reclaiming your time has everything to do with time management and mindset! It’s okay not to feel motivated and inspired 100% of the time. Having a strong mindset takes practice like exercising a muscle.

There are ways to start the day to ensure that you stay in your happy place while maximizing productivity and reclaiming your time.

Unplug: Disconnect from distractions

Do you check your phone first thing in the morning before you’ve even brushed your teeth? Does your phone go over every minute with text and email notifications?

These stressors can ruin your ability to focus. At night, silence your phone or put it in airplane mode. You need to give yourself time in the morning to warm up, pray/meditate, and center yourself before picking up your phone.

If you start your day with distractions, you’ll struggle to clear your mind and become productive.

Create a simple morning routine

Creating a simple routine that is easy to stick to will help you move through the day efficiently. Try to take full advantage of the first hour that you’re awake because it sets the tone for the rest of your day.

Set yourself up for success by waking up 30 minutes earlier than usual so that you can plan the flow of your day. Rushing out of bed leaves you feeling unprepared mentally and physically.

Make a To-Do list…a realistic one

The biggest thing to remember about planning your day, is making sure that you create a to-do list that you can realistically complete in one day. Filling your calendar with back-to-back tasks can leave you feeling overwhelmed and stressed about all the things that you didn’t get to. Don’t overload yourself with unreasonable expectations of what you can get done in one day.

Girl, chill out!

Sometimes you just gotta allow yourself to be. There are millions of ways to relax and give your mind a break. You can exercise, take a short walk in nature, read a new book, meditate, listen to your favorite music, or take a short nap.
